Commercial Description:
Flavors of dark chocolate and roasted malts are complemented by generous quantities of Northwest hops to give this dry stout an assertive but balanced profile. A traditional yeast strain lends further complexity to this rich dark brew.

Black with very little white head at the edges. Nice even nutty-roast aroma, mild dark chocolate. Light palate. More coffee becomes apparent in the aroma as the brew warms. Nice coffee taste with a smooth roasty finish.

Pours black, with a small off white head. Smels of big chocolate, some dark fruits, mild roast, anddark malts. Nice body, pretty big roasty chocolate really makes up most of the flavor characters. Nice and rich on the palate, with a slight bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Pretty full flavored most of the way throughout. I think this beer is slightly underrated, I enjoyed it.

Bottle. Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma with a light brown head and deep black color. Dried fruit and a great roasted malty flavor with somewhat clean finish. It is a little sweet and syrupy. I wish the alcohol was a little higher but besides this minor drawback, this is in my opinion a fantastic stout.

7/10/07 Bottle, thanks for sharing, Nate. Dark Brown to Black, little head. Coffee and carmel nose, bit of malt with "weird" smell. Foamy off white head. Chocolate and carmel notes, with a very negative twang of lactic sourness. eh.

Dark black, one inch head took time to rise up. Smells of toasted bread. Light bodied. Chocolate notes crescendo at the end with a warm oakey finish.

Bottled. Chocolate coffee aroma, malty sweet with bit of lactic tang. Also a bit of broth and a sour tang, kind of funky. Light sulfur-sewer aroma. Dark black-brown clear with off-white or light tan lacing head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Starts with roasted grain and chocolate, coffee. Dry. Oddly there is a sulfur-wasabi-kelp taste to this somehow. Finish is mild chocolate bitter. After is mild hoppy bitterness.

22 oz bomber. Deep dark brown hue. Spiraling tan head. Strong coffee aroma. Toasty bready malt notes in the aromas as well. Nutty and cocoa. Medium bodied. Fruity raspberry flavors. Sweet and sour fruit notes. Nice tart flavor. Nice bitter coffee note. Good roast. The fruity tart flavor adds a nice dimension. The finish is dry and roasty with a touch of the lingering sour note. As it warms, the swwet nuance of chocolate starts to stand out. Pleasurable drinking.
