Commercial Description:
Flavors of dark chocolate and roasted malts are complemented by generous quantities of Northwest hops to give this dry stout an assertive but balanced profile. A traditional yeast strain lends further complexity to this rich dark brew.

Clear dark brown color with a huge, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, light licorice, vanilla and tobacco notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy chocolate sweet and chocolate - coffee bean bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is smooth and oily, carbonation is soft. [20090621]

Pitch black with a creamy head. The aroma has light notes of roasted malt and chocolate. the flavour has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, sweetness, a bit of coffee and a light bitterness. It’s smooth with a rather good body - uncomplicated and straight forward - thank you Tom/After4ever!!

22oz bottle. Poured a medium to deeper brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of burnt malts, roasty, some chocolate, and a little earthy. Tastes of the same roastiness, lighter coffee, earthy, and chocolate. I would say the roastiness and burnt quality dominate.

Bottle courtesy of 5000: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin ring of light tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate and roasted malts with a touch of burnt popcorn. Body starts momentarily sweet but quickly reveals an overwhelming sour acidity that thins the body and actual led to me spitting it out. I can’t tell you how the finish was because I didn’t swallow any. Very strange, because the aroma hid it so well.

Bottle… This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Terrific retention. Rich aroma of pistachio and milk chocolate with diacetyl and vanilla undertones. Sweet, chocolaty flavor. Not complex, just rich and tasty. Medium to full-bodied with moderate carbonation. Sweet, chocolate and coffee finish. I haven’t checked my stats, but this has to be one of the very best dry stouts I’ve ever tasted! Underrated, in my book. Big props to Degarth for sharing this gem of a beer!
