Port Washington Masliftin Oktoberfest

On draught at the brewpub in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that disipates clean. Aroma of sweet biscuit malt, almost has a corn grits aroma with a touch of flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, a little extra carbonation with flavors of corn grits character, some toffee and a touch of citrus. Finish is semi-sweet with some multi-grain character that quickly finishes clean cut and crisp. One of the lighter märzens I’ve encountered.

On tap at Hops Haven. Poured clear medium golden with a short white head. Weak aroma picked up sweet pale malt and caramel at first, followed by lemon notes as it warmed up. Lightly-toasted flavor base with a poor hop blend on top (Cascade fought with dried leafy hoppage).. citrus became intrusive. Sticky-sweet finish with a hint of lemon. Very unremarkable on the palate with too much carbonation. This one just didn’t work.
