Commercial Description:
Cream Ale (first brewed 1994; occasional release). This unfiltered ale is golden in color, medium light in body and moderate in the hop character. Cream ale is made by using ale yeast fermented at colder temperatures (like a lager). The colder ferment causes a slower, more gradual fermentation and a smoother flavor with only a very subtle fruity flavor. Cream ale is a hybrid style; it has traits of both ale and lager.

[bottle] Pale golden color, with a short lived, pure white head. Sweet, grassy aroma. Light bodied flavors are kind of grainy, sweet and quite drinkable. Moderate hop finish. A quality brew, but not my favorite style.

Draught. Golden color, very clear. Tiny head. Slightly hoppy, not very creamy.

22 oz. bottle brought by argo0. Clear, straw body with a medium sized, white head. Lasting, some lacing. The aroma is sweet bread, grassy and light citrus. The flavor is biscuit, peaches, lemons and grassy. Mouthfeel is creamy and decent.

Bottle provided by argo0. Pours clear, pale golden with a medium white head. Pleasant lemony grassy nose. Flavor has notes of sweet pale malt, light caramel, zesty lemony hops and a touch of bread. Medium light body with subtle carbonation. This would be a really good session beer, enjoyable.

22oz bottle thanks to argo0: Clear pale golden yellow with a medium white head that sticks atop the beer for a good amount of time. The aroma is sweet caramel, grains, and light corn syrup. The taste is sweet cereal, light lemon, slightly bitter hops that are mild in nature. Light-medium bodied, medium carbonated, very creamy mouthfeel.

Pours a beautiful golden lemon rind color, the nose is very light fluffy in character with a citrus background. The taste is refreshing the carbonation hits you first then it is followed by a malty sugary fruit essence and finishes with a hoppy character to balance the sweetness out.

Any first impressions?
-A veil of head lingers on the dull, clear golden.
-An aroma of grain and faint butterscotch does not impress.
-Plenty of toasty hay is prolonged into bitterness, all atop the herbal hops.
-The prickly carbonation for the style makes it easier to quaff.

What if you dig deeper?
-A pleasant pear, banana and gooseberry fruitiness enlivens the sweet malts.
-The rising honeyed grain finish is luscious.
-This is an admirable flavor juxtaposition for the style.
-A quirky cream ale for well-crafted helles lovers.

Pints bottled and on tap at the brewpub.
