Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 10, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Crystal clear dark gold with a white head. Sweet nose, floral and grain, light orange and bread. Flavor is more of the same, some pepper and rather dry. Medium to full body, a bit boozy late. OK. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Oct 18, 2008 22oz bottle, courtesy of Schutzenliesel. Thanks, Tom! Dark gold, white fizzy head. Candied pepper peachy hop aromas warm to light wafts of orange caramel. Sweet fruity flavors roll into a ending breadiness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, lightly bittersweet finish. A bit sweet for my liking… argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Sep 1, 2008 (22oz bottle, thanks Schultzenliesel) Hazy apple juice body with small white head. Aroma is medium sweet, floral/orange, some bread, apple. Taste is moderately sweet, pine/grapefruit, bread, fairly dry finish. Medium body, some stickiness, light chalk. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Aug 30, 2008 22oz bottle, courtesy of Schutzenliesel. Thanks, Tom! Pours a hazy, golden-orange color; thin white head with patchy lacing. Lots of oranges, candy sugar, and lively, soft citrus bitterness; pretty resiny stuff. Medium carbonation. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: resiny, juicy citrus and orange hop bitterness; slightly sharp presence in the mouth. Hides its alcohol reasonably well. Lengthy finish: candy sugar, citrus bitterness, and oranges. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 27, 2008 Poured a lightly hazed golden color with a white head. Earthy and floral hops in the aroma and flavor. Sweet toasty cereal malt. Medium bodied. jarspag (593), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 3, 2008 Thanks to deftim13 for the sample at Lost Abbey. I have to admit, I’m not the biggest Pilsner guy out there...but this one delivered. Light but assertive, grainy and bready with a touch of bittering hops leading to a dry finish. Not mind shattering, but it was pleasant. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Feb 1, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Pours a clear golden color, almost no head. Rousing produces thin white head. Heavily sweet grainy aroma, very light Saaz presence. Palate kind of dead - sweet grainy taste, mild dry finish. Not outstanding, but okay. The imperial pilsner seems kind of hard to do well. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 27, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Clear gold/copper with a thin white head. Aroma is biscuity, cereal grains and grassy, floral hops. Flavor is similar, adding some bitterness and some stale malt. Medium to medium/full body, balanced carbonation. Decent.
