I’m not sure why, but I was expecting this to be rubbish. Wrong, I was. Dark orange brown with thin tan head. Nice aroma of rye, dark dried fruits and burnt caramel. Taste is ever so slightly thin - burnt caramel again, bread and oddly, some green apple. Wild. Finish of carrot cake, icing and all. The appley-cinnamon is so interesting. Unique and not a bad buy at whopping 1 euro a bottle. Maria (6315), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Dark, reddish brown with a huge, golden, lasting head. The aroma is sweetish with notes of plum, dark fruits and caramel. the flavour is lighter, less sweet and more refreshing than the average dubbel. It has notes of roasted malt, caramel, fruit and a citrussy finish. A nice and complex beer, that absolutely should not be enjoyed too cold, rather a bit too warm. Vinous aroma with red berries, some fruits, raisins and sweet malt. Undertones of earth, apple tobacco, figs, subtle spices, funky milk chocolate, light caramelly and it´s a tiny bit roasted. Light to medium sweet and tiny sourish flavour with tones of fruits and berries. Undertones of milk and cherry chocolate and yeast. Light suer and earthy ending. Silky mouth feel. Medium body. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2007 Great to find a dubbel that is actually classified as s dubbel. The beer is dark brown with some sediment. Sweet, fruity aroma like a doublt should have. Flavor has some apple, but not like a flawed green apple flavor and instead the real thing. Surprisingly light citrus and some alcohol taste. Well carbonated, medium palate. A good beer. gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden
