matt7215 (578), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada May 30, 2008 355 ml can aquired by a trade with a guy at work for a slice of pizza. pours pale yellow with a nice white head. carboard is this first thing to hit the nose but there is also dirt, toenail lint, burning popcicle stick, hamilton lake water, earwax and dirty diaper. flavours are actually much better because they are basically not there. some actual malt flavour does cross the palate in the middle of a very thin mouth feel. drinkable only in the lunch room at work. avoid if elsewhere. Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2007 No sign of a brewery on the can. No worries, it probably goes to the lowest bidder anyway. I mostly bought this to compare with the Egyptian non-alc I found but I was pleasantly surprised. Golden colour with some head (though this doesn’t last past the first sip). The aroma is of spicy hop and fresh worty/bready malt. Flavour is worty, grainy, spicy (hop) and is also fairly watery. The body is quite carbonic but you need it because of some syrupiness. Off-dry finish, and it’s that lingering wortiness that negates the hops a bit. On the whole, this is one of the better non-alcs. probstk (688), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Feb 1, 2007 355 mL can. I was offered some free cans of “Lager” by a tenant in my building. Imagine my joy when I opened the bag and found this. Oh well, the price was right.
App.: Med-light golden, small white head and...chunks. Uh-oh.
Aroma: Oh my. Apple juice, strangely sweet, boiled cruciferous vegetables, maybe some kinda cereal?
Palate: Fairly thin body, but I expected thinner. Soft carbonation.
Flav.: Almost a pleasant fruitiness to starts (grapes and apples?), a touch of sweetness and then nothing. Vanishes instantly. Not nearly as unpleasant as expected, but if there are no flavours, there can be no off flavours…
Seriously, why? If you don’t feel like a beer, then have a glass of pop, or milk, or ANYTHING. As pointless as eating fat-free, sugar-free ice cream.
daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Jan 17, 2007 Smells like putrid well water and there isn’t much to brag about in the appearance department, but the flavor is actually quite decent: bread, copper, lime and hops. The mouthfeel is watery, carbonated and boring but inoffensive. Considering this is a low-alcohol brew meant to be enjoyed just for the sake of enjoying, this beverage does have qualities worth mentionning and the advantage is you can pound back as many as you want without regretting it the next day! rudolf (1570), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 10, 2006 Thanks to whoever in the Toronto crew passed this along. Yellow/gold, very thin white head. Bread, caramel, sweet malt finish. no real nose to speak of. Very thin body. Still, the best NA I’ve had.
