downender (1616), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Oct 4, 2008 Bottle from Tesco, Prague. Coke coloured with no head. Aroma of burnt malts and prunes. Flavour was sweet with plenty of dark fruit and chocolate. Finish was dominated by overly prominent, burning alcohol. Ole_R (1304), Oslo, Norway Oct 2, 2008 500 ml@GrOve’s. Fluffy tan head with big bubbles. Nice lacework. Near black body with a ruby shine. Sharpish sweet aroma; toasted malt with a scent of lightly perfumed fruits and licorice. Taste is vineous, port-like, and has a well prononced malt sweetness. A good amount of bittering hops underneath to balance. Notes of pepper and burnt caramel. Medium body to full body. Oily texture. Malty and light bitter finish. A tasty sweetheart. Gr0ve (1116), Oslo, Norway Oct 2, 2008 500 ml bottle. Black with ruby red hues. Clear. Tall light beige fine-laced head that clings to the glass. Strong licorice and münchener malt syrup aroma. Almost peppery. Dark chocolate. Very sweet rich caramelly with a lightly roasted background. Smooth texture. Full-bodied. More licorice in the finish with some gentle but distinctive bitterness. Great beer! swoopjones (1179), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottle @ U Medvidku, Prague. Pours deep dark opaque black. Intense. Flavor loaded with dried fruits, raisins, syrupy sweetness. Licorice on crack. Prunes. Fuller bodied. Mitch_Wayne (113), Kokkola, Finland Aug 21, 2008 Sweet dark frut alcoholic aroma, cane sugary roasty cloyingly sweet taste. Makes my teeth shudder and the alcohol is there showing its ugly face. I still nigh enjoyed this, probably because it was so cold outiside and Brideshead revisited started to go downhill because of Jeremy Irons’ facial hair so i needed a distraction.
