Been brewed since 1872 and only three scores. Wheres it been hiding all my life-a. Pours dark with a thick frothy head that lingers a bit. Smells of semi sweet brown cake bread. Medium nectar with ample effers and a chewy texture. Mildly sweet with defined cocoa and mildly roasted coffee bean. The finish is bittered rather well finishing dry and tasty. Nice!

Aroma is grainy, roasty, a little bit toffee, with some fruity esters coming off it as well. Lively carbonation, quite thin on the palate. Taste is quite a simple dark roast, with some slightly burnt corners. Residual sugars noticeable. The finish is pure roasted marshmallows.

ALmost no head. Sweet, almost syrupy, and round with a very apparent bitterness. A bit like a weak doppelbock, Smooky and hints of coffee.

Large, creamy, light-brown initial head. Fully lasting longevity. Flat, brownish-black body. Aroma: heavy toasted caramel malt, caramel, strong coffee. Initial flavor: light bitterness and sweetness. Final flavor: moderate sweetness. Average duration. Palate: light body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation and metallic finish. Pronounced taste of coffee, not cloying, also tastes like caramel.

Bottle, 33cl - Clear dark red brown beer with a large beige head. Aroma is malty sweet with notes of coffee and caramel. Flavor is malty sweet with notes of caramel, grassy hops and chocolate. Nothing special but a great beer when you want to keep it simple.
