Skidds (252), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 22, 2009 500ml bottle into a Tucher Weizen glass. Poured a hazy yellow with a decent foamy white head which quickly dissapeared. Aroma was strong banana with small hints of cloves and wheat. Flavour was a bit watery with notes of banana, yeast, wheat and to a smaller degree bubblegum. It had a taste reminiscent of a smoked beer after each sip which I found bizzare and out of place for the style. Light-medium bodied with a sweet finish. I enjoyed it but this is far from the best hefeweizen I have tried. Overall - not bad. Bierkrug (235), Idar-Oberstein (in Pakistan), Germany Jan 15, 2009 500 ml bottle Germany. I was not really impressed with this Hefe. It was not bad but not great either. No banana bland taste. But drinkable. (Rating #2113) beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 11, 2009 Pours a hazy yellow color with a thick, pillowy, creamy, white head. Classic hefeweizen aroma of bananas, cloves and bubble-gum, there’s also a mild citrus presence. The flavor has roughly the same elements as the aroma, but it feels a bit dull and bland. The body is medium with an oily texture and moderate carbonation. Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Jan 6, 2009 0,5 lt Bottle with the label "König Ludwig Weissbier" from Carrefour Gerakas in Athens. Very haze dark yellow color. Foamy white head that quickly disappears.
Wheat aroma with banana and corn notes. Medium body and yeasty flavor with typical for the kind banana notes. Above average but nothing over the top. Bhops (329), Dallas, Texas, USA Jan 3, 2009 bottle. Pours yellowish and hazy. I think I must have gotten a skunked bottle because this beer had a nasty funk to it. Traditional hefe flavors were present but otherwise spoiled by the funk. Not sure I want to give this one a second try. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 28, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 2008Draft at Ballydoyle, as “König Ludwig Royal Bavarian Hefe Weiss” In branded straighter-than-normal hefeweizen glass. Cloudy yellow, a quarter-inch white head that didn’t touch the lemon wedge stuck in the glass. Still started with a bit of Lemon Pledge smell, but this dwindled to a gentle base wheat smell. Taste is soft and just a little spicy. Usual hefe esters are not as strong, just a bit of clove, and no banana bomb, working well with the wheat and malt. Just a basic, average hefeweizen.
