I think I must have gotten a skunked bottle because this beer had a nasty funk to it. Traditional hefe flavors were present but otherwise spoiled by the funk. Not sure I want to give this one a second try. DrnkMcDermott (1844), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 2008Draft at Ballydoyle, as “König Ludwig Royal Bavarian Hefe Weiss” In branded straighter-than-normal hefeweizen glass. Cloudy yellow, a quarter-inch white head that didn’t touch the lemon wedge stuck in the glass. Still started with a bit of Lemon Pledge smell, but this dwindled to a gentle base wheat smell. Taste is soft and just a little spicy. Usual hefe esters are not as strong, just a bit of clove, and no banana bomb, working well with the wheat and malt. Just a basic, average hefeweizen. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Bottle: Poured a dirty beige color weizen with a huge foamy pure white head with good retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of banana and cloves is too subtle for style. Taste is a mix between some medium wheat malt with traces of banana and cloves esters. Something resembling smoke is also noticeable but out of place within the style. Full body with limited filtration with some good carbonation. Not as clean and ester are a bit off but still enjoyable.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2008 Super cloudy brown-gold body, a fluffy white head discolored a little. Yeasty cinammon and cloves on the nose. Medium body. Spice cake with banana undertone and a light milky-sugary wheat at the end that fades fast. tupalev (2610), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2008 On tap at Castle on KIng in September. Looks as good as a beer can - bright glowing hazy yellow, big long lasting white head. Aroma is stuffed full on bananas and clove with some yeast. Wow, what a good start! Taste is very good - after the standard and expected yeast and clove it has a really neat grainy/dry finish and that makes you want another sip immediately. Maybe not as carbonated as, say, the local - and highest rated for the style - Dennisons Weissbier, and this, not as refreshing, but equal to that beer is just about every other way. What a wonderful surprise to find on tap out here. kiwibt (51), , New Zealand
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Cloudy with compact head. Aroma of cloves with slight esters.
Tasted clean with slight cloves and fullish body. Overall a bit one dimensional for me with a little bit to much body.
