yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Jul 11, 2007 Bottle. (as König Ludwig Weissbier Hell) Unclear, orange weizen with a too small, white head. Banana, hops and some cloves in the aroma. A bit sugary flavor, with banana, citrus-notes and spicyness. Mellow, but a bit gassy mouthfeel. Spiced, lightly banana-ish finish. Not a bad hefe, but it could use a bit more pronounced flavor. (070527) MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jul 9, 2007 Poured from a 330ml bottle, under the alias "Konig Ludwig Weiss", into a shaker. This hefe poured a hazy golden color with a head of small, fizzy white bubbles. The head settled down to a thin layer that remained throughout. The aroma was typical of a hefe. It included bready yeast, clove, and some faint citrus notes. The flavor was clove, yeast esters, some light spices, and faint citrus. Very crisp and refreshing. The mouthfeel was light to medium-bodied with very noticable, lively carbonation. This was a very well done hefeweizen. unibaren (145), 8000 Århus C, Denmark Jul 7, 2007 Yeasty, banana and spices dominate the aroma. Colour is cloudy orange and head although not big is longlasting. Beer is very light in the taste with the most notable being some sourness. Aftertaste has not bitterness at all only a dry spicyness. A very drinkable weissbier. mephisto (1144), Taiwan Jun 30, 2007 draft at beer bistro in toronto. haxy yellow with thin white head, the aroma is slightly citrusy and the flavor is sweet and fruity. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 29, 2007 [328-20070602] Tap @ Smokeless Joe’s (Toronto, ON, called Konig Ludwig Weiss). Smells lightly of feet, cloves, banana, birthday cake icing and... bruschetta. Hazy, orange yellow body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Flavour continues banana and wheaty cloves along with some fresh nail polish remover (acetone). Medium body. Not bad, nice blending with a fairly complex texture and flavour, apparently. paleface1982 (13), cabot, Arkansas, USA Jun 27, 2007 great in a ice cold glass.the banana taste is really good and unique.one of the easiest to drink beers ive ever had. Holdwine (905), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Jun 27, 2007 Perfect on a hot steamy day. On draft at Max’s. Bananas and clove and just far to easy to drink! jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Jun 26, 2007 From a 11.2 oz. slender bottle, a freshness date on the back label, sampled at cellar temperature in a weizen glass. I swirled the last third in the bottle before finishing the pour.
Poured a cloudy orangey dull golden with a foamy, creamy white head, decent retention, settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
Aromas of lemon, clove, lightly spicy, yeast and wheat malty.
Good carbonation and malty crisp, dry, creamy smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of sweet, juicy wheaty malts, a little banana bubble gum and clove spiciness, earthy yeast, a sour lemony bitterness, a slight taste of alcohol at the end, and a dry yeasty, malty finish.
A really nice hefeweizen, easy and smooth to drink, can always be found in the singles/mix-a-six racks at a couple of liquor stores in my area, well worth trying if like the hefeweizen style.
