Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

Bottled under name Konig Ludwig Weiss. Slightly disappointed considering I have in the past enjoyed their dunkel. Weakish flavour compared to some others of the style. Just passed the best before date - may be a reason.

I thought this was a very refreshing brew. It had a somewhat lackluster appearance. Poured a cloudy light amber color with pure white head. I didn’t get any of the fruity tastes the other raters mentioned. A stronger more forceful taste than i expectred for a hefe.(My palate may not be as experienced as the others.) I really enjoyed it.

Pours hazy orange with a rich pillowy white head. The aroma has rich wheat with orange citrus notes, prominant banana esters and some spices. Medium body with a rich mouthfeel and good amount of carbonation. The taste starts with some citric flavors that is somewhat distracting and rich wheat. The finish has some astringency and spice. This is an okay hefe, but fall short in a few areas.

Bottled as Konig Ludwig Weiss. Cloudy, golden yellow with a brief head. Smell bananas and hints of wheat. Strong banana flavorand a little orange at the end. Flavor sticks to the pallete long after. Goes down smooth. Pretty good, but I don’t have much to compare it to yet.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Cloudy golden orange color with a very small amount of white head. Aroma is full of wheat and banana notes with some hints of clove and a touch of orange peel. Yeast, wheat, clove, and bananas begin the flavor with a smooth transition to a watery and wheaty middle and a finish of wheat and bananas. A bit watery at the end but not a bad beer besides.

Bottled (as König Ludwig Weissbier). Hazy golden, brief head. Papery banana aroma. Dryish with dense rounded mouthfeel, restrained bubblegum esters, medium body. Streamlined weizen, decent enough, but somewhat charmless. Notes of vanilla, evident wheat malt flavour.

Botted as König Ludwig Weiss. Pours a hazy light amber with a thick white head. Aroma of lemon and spice. Light body and active carbonation. Banana, cloves and wheat in the taste with a quick and dry finish. Yup, it’s a German Hefeweizen.
