Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

a very good and enjoyable german wheat but seemed just a tad, and i mean a tad, not up to its potential of a full hefe...maybe because i had a weihenstapher(sp) yesterday...so...great head....yellow gold..good flavour, enjoyable and a great sessioner.

Draught (Welcome Hotel, Bamberg): Loads of banana, actually quite sweet. Medium bodied, but flat and lifeless. Hazy gold in colour white a white head. Nice fruits and spice, but lacks the carbonation expected with a weizen.

(33cl bottle) Small white head with cloudy golden body. Aroma is moderately sweet, banana, lemon, clove, light bubblegum. Taste is medium sweet, tart, banana, some bubblegum, light clove. Bubblegun finish. Light body, some crisp, some acidity.

This is one good looking beer. Creamy head upon pouring, settling down to a persistent thin head; almost dense. Cloudy marmalade orange with layers of cloudiness, forcing a change in colour between pale orange and the deeper orange. Nose has good depth of spice and aromastic coriander, ‘feels’ heavy. Well balanced palate, a lighter lighter or elegant than the nose would suggest but regardless shows all the right notes – spice, cloves, slightly liquored. Needs a touch more power on the finish but not a deal breaker. A great educational beer for those not familar with the genre.

Pour is a darker yellow with a white head. Aroma is cloves and banana with some creamyness. Flavor is lots of lemon up front but ending with banana abd yeast. Decent brew that is easy to find.

6oz sample at Virginia Beer Festival as a "König Ludwig" label. Pretty decent hefeweizen, a lot better than the American "German" ones I’ve had. Wheat and bananas, with some spice flavors in there. Nice finish.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden body with a large fluffy white head. The aroma is peppery with clove notes and only a touch of banana fruitiness but I’d say it’s more spicy than anything. Soapy mouthfeel and there are flavours of bubblegum. Spicy notes are prevalent here again along with some lemon tartness in the finish. Pretty decent overall. Purchased at Bierspezi Hoheluft in Hamburg on May 17, 2006.

Bottle. Very hazy yellow-brown color with creamy head. Strong aromas of banana and wheat with spicy, oily and acidic notes. Soft, oily and grainy flavor with something unpleasant in the background (starch?, soap?, oils?). Wheat, clove and melon in the finish.
