shanereid (75), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Oct 25, 2005 Very yeasty aroma with a decent head. Some trace, very musty yellow colour. Good presentation for a hef, i’m not easily impressed with them in that regard. A nice finish too, great drink. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Oct 15, 2005 König Ludwig Weiss, on tap, Virginia Beach Brewfest. Yeasty nose and a white head cover a pale yellow beer. Rather carbonated. Taste the wheat, big time. Clean, fresh finish. OK weiss. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Oct 10, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Very small, cream colored head. Bright golden color. Light aroma of bread and yeast. Lots of carbonation in this one. Light yeast and citrus flavors with a hint of spiciness at the end. Very drinkable, decent hefeweizen. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 22, 2005 aroma of wheat, nice big initial head, maybe because it got shook aorund on the flight home. Easy on tongue creaminess, medium mouthfeel. A good brew, a decent represenattive of its style. Appropriately carbonated. bmxutos (161), Lisboa, Portugal Sep 20, 2005 Bottle, 50cl. Pours a cloudy and pale yellow liquid, with a nice white foam, rapidly diminishing. Aroma is moderately malty with notes of citrus and some other fruits, probably apple or something.... Aroma is again fruity. Very refreshing and drinkable, not the best weiss that i’ve had but neverthelesss a good one. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia Sep 10, 2005 One I have looked forward to tasting for a while now. Have been fascinated by the story of ’Mad’ king Ludwig and his heir to the throne, Luitpold, for some time now. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a weissbier glass. Hazy, in fact almost opaque, pale golden straw body with a compact and dense, rocky white head that stuck firmly to the glass and left rings down the sides. Strong banana, yeast and peppery spices in the aroma, quite tart, with a good lemon rind and almost musty grain balance. Quite light in body and lively in carbonation with a strong vanilla, wheat and yeast mix across the tongue, bananas and the lightest hint of sour lemons in the back before a smooth citric and yeasty swallow that remained fresh, without becoming gluggy. Zesty and quite sweet once it relaxed a little and began to warm, it continued to cross my tongue with such ease that before I knew it was gone. This was actually a lovely wheat beer that would go down a treat in bulk, as personally, its subtlety seemed to pay off. Refreshing, easy drinking. (König Ludwig Weissbier, 50cL, BBE 08/05) Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Sep 9, 2005 Cloudy yellow colour with thin white head. Stale bread nose. Slight bread taste with dry bread finish. MoritzF (4859), Bochum, Germany Aug 29, 2005 (bottle) Hazy yellow colour with a big rocky, slowly lacing foam. Fruity (apricot, banana) and yeasty aroma with a touch of cloves. Slight sweet flavour, light to medium body. Malty and yeasty taste with a subtle banana fruitiness and a clove-spicy and slight citrus-fruity finish of medium length. Aromatic and solid thirst quencher with decent character, that only lacks a bit body.
