Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

Served on tap as König Ludwig Weiss. It pours to a thin white head atop a hazy golden colored body. The aroma is lightly spicy, banana, stale cardboard, clove. The flavor is clove, banana, wheat, bubblegum, spices. The palate is blah.

Koenig Ludwig Weissbier bottle. Pours hazy lemon flesh with a small foamy white head and has spotty falling lacing. Sweet wheat aroma with a banana malt nose. Sweet wheat and hoppy banana flavor. Spicy and crisp light bodied refreshing palate.

Konig Ludwig: Aroma of sweet spice, like nutmeg, with coriander and orange; maybe too much orange. Appears light-white in color. Flavor is spicy though somehow bland. Palate is light.

Rating for König Ludwig Weiss

Poured murky, thick and wheaty with a thin white head. Surprised by the amount of maltiness in the aroma as opposed to the requisite yeast and banana. Instead I found a bit of caramel and breadiness (raw and baked) with some alcohol that invaded the sinuses. Started sweet and full-flavored with a mild, sour fruit ending, rather like plums. Mouthfeel was creamy yet dry while the finish was slightly chalky and astringent. I’m really glad my wife likes a good weiss otherwise I may have missed out on this one.

Konig Ludwig Weiss: Pours a yellowish color with good head and some lacing. Aroma had hints of fruit but, as always my nose failed to pick out what it was. Taste was a bit weak but, wasn’t bad overall.
