Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

The colour was nice and clean until I swirled and dropped an A bomb of sediment into my glass. Great retention with the creamy white crown and some nice sticky lacing. The aroma was very bananaish the second I pried off the cap. Now it’s more ripe bananas, spice, yeast, bit of lemon and something that reminds me of a bag of flour. The lemon has more legs than you might expect. The taste is quite fresh but this does not taste as good as it did when I first cracked it (it’s still good though). A bit watery but the yeasty spice (clove) comes through first followed by light banana. There’s something at the very back of the sip that reminds me of chocolate but isn’t...actually, it’s more at the very end of the aftertaste. Seems a bit on the thin side but overall feels nice. Good carbonation that is just enough to give it a bit of zest. Soft mouthfeel. A decent beer, a nice mild version.

This looks like your typical Hefe cloudy golden honey body with a quarter inch of thick creamy head nothing to special about it. The smell how ever is killer, chalky banana accented with lemon no scratch that its jolly rancher sour pineapple, its even the perfect strength not weak and not over powering, great smell I just keep sniffing it I can’t get enough. Dammit!!! beer taste like crap, very very watery feel to it and not smooth like a hefe should be. Very week wheat malt flavor and the banana clove dosn’t really show up until the after taste. None of the fantastic smell was carried forward into the taste how is that even possible, there is a pool water flavor to this beer, bleach maybe?!?!?!? what ever it is its killing the malt flavor. Very disappointing hefe, one of the worst I’v ever had, not the worst but very close to it, and yet this is still drinkable.

50 cl bottle poured into a weizen glass. Hazy yellow with a thick foamy white head. Classic Hefeweizen but low on flavour.

500 ml bottle. As König Ludwig Weissbier Hell. From Germany. Pale hazy yellow/orange colour with massive white head. Aroma is fruits (banana/citrus), wheat and yeast. Malty, wheaty flavour with some hints of citrus and banana. Not very sweet, more like dry but slightly watery and thin.

Bottle. Hazy yellow with a thick foamy white head whit excellent retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is wheat, bread, banana, and esters, Flavor is a little dryer than expected, similar to the aroma with wheat, raw wheat, banana, and a hint of citrus. Body is a little thin for my liking of this style. Very drinkable.

500ml bottle. Pours a light gold with a nice head that hangs around. Fruity yeasty nose with a citrus feel.A little disapointing in the mouth feel and flavor. For such a good aroma I was expecting a lot more. Almost a straw like flavour rather than the citrus yeast i was expecting. Not much of an after taste to speak of either. Not the worst but could have been a lot better.
