Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

12oz. bottle labeled Konig Ludwig Weissbier. Pours very murky pale gold with a 1-2 finger creamy white head that has good retention. Aroma is lots of raw yeast, lemon, sweet grain, yeasty dough, a decent amount of spice, just a hint of bubble gum, banana nut bread, a little vanilla and some orange blossom. Flavor is lots of sweet grain, sweet floral, sweet wheat, lemon poppyseed bread, hints of pepper, and some orange. Finish is yeast and citrus. Palate is thin and slightly syrupy with a carbonation a little too low for its massively sweet flavor. Overall this stuff was just too sweet with little to balance it out.

I tried this beer on draught on April 2, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Camada. The beer poured a hazy orange gold with a thick white head. The aroma was wheat malt, some banana, some cloves, and with some florally hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet with hints of wheat and spice and a nice bitter finish.

(Bottle) Pours hazy yellow golden with a creamy head. The aroma is of doughy white bread, lots of banana esters, light clove, light pepper, wheat and flowers. The flavour is light sweet and light bitter with a fantastic crisp and full carbonation. Tones of wheat, dough, light grass/flowers, light clove, light banana. The mouthfeel is round and smooth. Tiny acidic and dry finish. Medium bodied.

12 oz bottle of Konig Ludwig Weissbier. Pours somewhat cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head. Spiced aroma, with banana and bread. Similar but somewhat weaker flavor. In all would be a refreshing beer on a hot summer day, but nothing special.

bottle. Cloudy pale yellow, large head. Yeasty-fruity nose. Flavours of lemon, banana, although rather shy. Slightly malty and hopy with a touch of vegetables in the finish. Slightly watery.
