Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 5, 2003 An unclear dark yellow beer with a flat head. The aroma is a lovely wheaty aroma with a slight sweetness to it. The flavor is slightly flat wheaty flavor with an OK sweetness but too little wheat. It ends on a weak bitterness. A really refreshing summer beer - but other than that a boring too flat too thin beer. Enjoy it in the sun. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 23, 2006 Updated: Jan 5, 2007Bottled (as König Ludwig Weissbier). Hazy golden, brief head. Papery banana aroma. Dryish with dense rounded mouthfeel, restrained bubblegum esters,
medium body. Streamlined weizen, decent enough, but somewhat charmless. Notes of vanilla, evident wheat malt flavour.
Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 15, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Comes as "König Ludwig Weissbier". Hazy golden with a tall, white head. Distinct yeasty aroma. Medium body, lightly sweet banana and yeast accents - and then basically nothing else but a heavy carbonation. A rather poor Hefe. 140308 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 23, 2006 Hazy dull beige colour. Not much head by weizen standards. Aroma of sweat, banana, nutmeg, sour pears. Sweet & sour flavour with apple/pear notes dominating, banana sublimated and the malts come across more like icing sugar than anything else. Lifeless example marred by a misguided sense of balance, accenting all the wrong things. yespr (6364), Copenhagen O, Denmark Mar 14, 2008 50 cL bottle, as König Ludwig Weissbier Hell. Pours hazy orange with a dense white head. Light fruity and wheaty bubblegum aroma. Flavour is smooth wheaty and with a minor bubblegum note. Light caramel malt flavour into the finish. Smooth and nice.
