Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

330ml Bottle: Sweet, spiced, aroma. Smells of cloves, banana, lemon, yeast, wheat, and bubblegum. Poured dark yellow/straw/flax in color with a large, white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Some particles. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of cloves, spices, banana, yeast, bubblegum, malts, and sugar. Light to medium body. Slightly gritty texture. Average carbonation. Yeasty banana finish.

Sure, it isn’t exactly hefe weather, but sometimes you just need a hefe, and I’ve never had this one, so what the hell? - fizzy, cloudy yellow beer, with minimal head, and huge, chunky floaties that are so dense that they rapidly sink to the bottom on the glass - not very attractive - bright, fruity aroma, with notes of honey, tangerine, and apricot, along with a mild acidity, and a musty, earthy character - it’s got a nice spicy dry flavor at first, followed by a medium honey sweetness, and loads of floral character - fruity notes of apple, orange, peach, but no banana at all (a welcome change from most hefes) - a mild acidity keeps thing lively, and compliments the fruitiness - this beer may not look like much, but it’s pretty tasty.

Had this one in a bottle labeled "Konig Ludwig Weiss". The aroma is a good example of what this style of beer should smell like. It has malt, cloves, bananas, and sour kraut. The appearance is a cloudy and gold with a nice foamy head. The flavor is mildly spicy, and citrus like, while maintaining a good amount of malt and bitterness. The palate is soft and perfectly carbonated. It also has a sourness that gets you in the finish. This one is good.

The beer dispenses from the 330ml brown bottle a limpid gold and after decanting the beer pours, a beclouded yellow gold with the head is bright, white and creamy in texture, size is modest and after its desiccation, the lace forms a thin coating upon the glass. Nose has a bit of yeast and is backed up by sweet malt, crisp and clean, start is slightly sweet with a decent grain profile and the top light. Finish is mild in its acidity, the hops sparing in their spiciness, dry aftertaste lingers long, a drinkable beer, and one for those days when a heavy beer will not do.

Pear gold with nice grainy white head. Moderately yeasty aroma, moderate banana. A rock-solid weiss -- banana, bubblegum, fizz. Slightly tart on the lips and in the finish, solid mouthfeel. Nothing spectacular, but pretty good.

On tap at Castle on KIng in September. Looks as good as a beer can - bright glowing hazy yellow, big long lasting white head. Aroma is stuffed full on bananas and clove with some yeast. Wow, what a good start! Taste is very good - after the standard and expected yeast and clove it has a really neat grainy/dry finish and that makes you want another sip immediately. Maybe not as carbonated as, say, the local - and highest rated for the style - Dennisons Weissbier, and this, not as refreshing, but equal to that beer is just about every other way. What a wonderful surprise to find on tap out here.
