Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

Draught at Czehoski. Hazy yellow-gold with a pillowy white head. Aroma and flavour both hold the expected notes of wheat, clove, yeast, and a bit banana. A simple, refreshing example of the style.

Served in a tall Konig Ludwig glass, without a lemon. The beer was just like every german wheat, hazy pale yellow with a very dense pale white colour. The aroma was subdued, not too much to it. A few floral notes, and the typical yeastie smell. The taste was mild but pretty good. Defiately easy on the palate with no complex flavours to deal with. A great all-around german wheat which should be tasted if you can find it. Tasted on Tap under the name: Konig Ludwig Weissbier at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

12oz bottle labled Konig Ludwig Weiss - Pours cloudy golden with a tall foamy white head that stays pretty well and laces some on the weizen glass. Aroma of bannana, and a little clove. Flavor is lots of bannana, a little clove, and some yeast. Quite carbonated with a lively mouthfeel. Pretty refreshing and actually a little better than I expected it to be.

Brewtopia 2004: Cloudy orange with a thin white head. Banana and clove aroma, light fizzy body, sweet ending and very crisp. I would like to try a fresh one of these.

Pours with a frothy, thick, pale tan colored head that is easily three fingers thick. The beer is a lightly hazy bright gold color with a pretty cascade of carbonation welling up from the center of my Duvel glass. The nose has subdued aromatics of clove and banana as well as a mild, grassy grain character. The taste is light and spritzy with a zesty carbonation as it hits my tongue, though it is a bit on the low side for a Hefeweizen. This beer is quite dry with a bit of bitterness in the finish as well as a long grassy note. This beer is lightly spicy as well with a bit of pepper and ginger on the tongue. This beer is pretty tame for a German Hefeweizen, not nearly as spicy, fruity or phenolic as the best of them, almost in the vein of a bland American Wheat beer, though not quite that bad.

This should be required drinking for anyone uninitiated into the Hefeweizen style. Smooth, balanced, and refreshing. The ever-so-slight lemon bite is a nice complement to the overall thick feel of this one. What more can you ask for, besides one more? Proof that the Germans are masters at the craft.

Draught at some pub in Bernkastel. Hazy golden, white head. Standard hefewezien taste, bananas, yeast, clove. A standard hefeweissen simply.
