Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

(500 ml bottle, under its alias König Ludwig Weissbier). Cloudy blond colour, large head. Lovely aroma of ripe bananas and cloves. Light bodied, some cloves in the flavour, refreshing. Like most weissbiers a short aftertaste, but what there is, is good.

Poured deep cloudy yellow with nice white head...aroma was all bananas and cinnamon and nutmeg...taste was much the same, as you would expect from a Hefe...tasted a lot better than I anticipated...wheat and yeast and bananas, but a little sweeter...really reminded me of my great grandmother’s banana pudding...I don’t like Hefes, but something about this made me nostalgic...so it does get a 5 for palate!

Was not that good, since I cannot remember much of this beer, only that was very dunkel, not a dunke one, but the colour.

9/20/2007: König Ludwig Weissbier pours a pale yellow color and has an unfiltered appearance (cloudy). The head is white in color, quite dense, long-lasting, and leaves a good amount of lasting lacing on the glass. The aroma has cloves and weak banana with some yeasty undertones. The flavor is is light and refreshing with a combination of typical hefe flavors (clove and banana), lemony citrus, and some wheat malt. This beer is soft and smooth on the palate and is light to medium-light in body. Overall this beer has a nice balance and isn’t too strong. This is good cross-over or first beer for those wanting to try German Hefe/Weiss beers. This beer would also be a great traditional hefe to drink on a hot and humid Summer day.

11. Fl. oz. bottle (5.5% Alc/Vol, Best before end: 08 FEB 2008 14e28) from ross. Thanks! Rating #436 for this beer...

Pretty ordinary German Wheat. No head at all and slightly roasted, and slightly seasoned

Bottle. Very hazy yellow-brown color with creamy head. Strong aromas of banana and wheat with spicy, oily and acidic notes. Soft, oily and grainy flavor with something unpleasant in the background (starch?, soap?, oils?). Wheat, clove and melon in the finish.

Hazy pale straw colour with a large mostly lasting white head. Banana and cloves feature mainly in the aroma. Not heaps of flavour but some spice upfront then some soft banana and vanilla finishing with a little coriander and hints of orange peel. Medium body and a creamy texture. Enjoyable german hefeweizen.

Konig Ludwig bottling. Light gold, surprisingly towards clear versus hazy, slight head lasted decently. Aroma was faintly of clove and a touch of banana. Flavor had a grainy wheat quality, some wateriness to it, and very light banana and clove notes. Carbonic bite. Not smooth, the esters were muted. Not particularly good, lacking character. I expected more.
