Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

a very good and enjoyable german wheat but seemed just a tad, and i mean a tad, not up to its potential of a full hefe...maybe because i had a weihenstapher(sp) yesterday...so...great head....yellow gold..good flavour, enjoyable and a great sessioner.

Body is straw colour and hazy with lots of bubble action. White foamy head started large but settled pretty quickly. Aroma of wheat, malts, banana and floral notes. Flavour is wheaty with a lemon-citrus tange to it. Finish is a bit thin but still pretty smooth.

Sampled as König Ludwig Weissbier. 11.2 oz bottle purchased as part of a mix a six at Lukas Liquors in Kansas City, Missouri. 21 Feb 2009 best before date on label. Pour is hazed golden yellow with a nice 2 inch white head. Sporadic bubbles float to the surface. Very firm head falls slow to reveal nice lacing. Aroma is very faint, not much there at all. A bit of wheat, a bit of spicy yeast. Taste is husky wheat, some grassy coriander and not a whole bunch else. Really not much character here. Palate was on the watery side. There really are not many flaws on this beer, just a bit dull. Not among my favorite Hefes.

(Bottle) Pours hazy yellow golden with a creamy head. The aroma is of doughy white bread, lots of banana esters, light clove, light pepper, wheat and flowers. The flavour is light sweet and light bitter with a fantastic crisp and full carbonation. Tones of wheat, dough, light grass/flowers, light clove, light banana. The mouthfeel is round and smooth. Tiny acidic and dry finish. Medium bodied.

On tap at the flying saucer Little Rock. Pours a near clear pale straw, with some small amount of white head. Clove and pepper on the nose. Wheatier on the flavor. Spot on for style.
