Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

From a 11.2 oz. slender bottle, a freshness date on the back label, sampled at cellar temperature in a weizen glass. I swirled the last third in the bottle before finishing the pour. Poured a cloudy orangey dull golden with a foamy, creamy white head, decent retention, settled into a thin sudsy lacing. Aromas of lemon, clove, lightly spicy, yeast and wheat malty. Good carbonation and malty crisp, dry, creamy smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Tastes of sweet, juicy wheaty malts, a little banana bubble gum and clove spiciness, earthy yeast, a sour lemony bitterness, a slight taste of alcohol at the end, and a dry yeasty, malty finish. A really nice hefeweizen, easy and smooth to drink, can always be found in the singles/mix-a-six racks at a couple of liquor stores in my area, well worth trying if like the hefeweizen style.

(on bottle)Bitter fresh citrus and a minimum of babana in the nose. Lovely hazy-pale yellow. Great. A big, open and sort of hoppt mouthfeel, with a bit more banana/guava. End with a cool carbonated finish. Good summersdrink. Actually it´s a cool name too, real german-obersturmbahnfürer-style.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Cloudy golden colour with large white head. Very lively. Nice aroma, spice, banana and yeast. Nice taste, banana again, wheat, yeast; sweet then some sourness. The main taste finishes quite abruptly, leaving a faint , pleasant lingering aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel. Very good.

(Draught at Kaisla as König Ludwig on 2008-07-30) Orange. Cloudy. Big white head that didn’t last long. Banana and malts in nose. Light palate with medium carbonation. Banana, malts, light pine flavours and bitterness. Slightly bitter short aftertaste.

Flaske 0,5 l fra Systembolaget i Kiruna - merket "König Ludwig Weissbier". Lys gylden på farge. Høyt kremaktig skum. Uklar. Aroma av citrus og blomster. Smak av citrus og litt banan: Ganske standard hveteøl - som blir passelig søt. KI=3
