Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

Mine was labelled Konig Ludwig. A nice deep yellow colour. A very pleasing aroma of clove and banana, which is typical for this style. Flavor wise, it has tons of banana and a bit of a sour finish. I was hoping for a bit more complexity, but it's a fine example of a German Hefeweizen.

One I have looked forward to tasting for a while now. Have been fascinated by the story of ’Mad’ king Ludwig and his heir to the throne, Luitpold, for some time now. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a weissbier glass. Hazy, in fact almost opaque, pale golden straw body with a compact and dense, rocky white head that stuck firmly to the glass and left rings down the sides. Strong banana, yeast and peppery spices in the aroma, quite tart, with a good lemon rind and almost musty grain balance. Quite light in body and lively in carbonation with a strong vanilla, wheat and yeast mix across the tongue, bananas and the lightest hint of sour lemons in the back before a smooth citric and yeasty swallow that remained fresh, without becoming gluggy. Zesty and quite sweet once it relaxed a little and began to warm, it continued to cross my tongue with such ease that before I knew it was gone. This was actually a lovely wheat beer that would go down a treat in bulk, as personally, its subtlety seemed to pay off. Refreshing, easy drinking. (König Ludwig Weissbier, 50cL, BBE 08/05)

The aroma has banana, clove, and spices. Color is a cloudy yellow with a decent white head. Initially the flavor is slighlty fruity and grows to a spicey dry finish.

pours a murky yellow colour with a thick fluffy head which lasts. aromas are banana, cobwebs, tulips and the slightest notes of vanilla. smooth in the mouth and a refreshing crisp, lemony bite in the finish. Ill always have fond memories of this beer, its what got me into craft beers :)

12 oz bottle via Roth’s. Pours hazy amber with a huge beige head. Nsoe is bubblegum & banana. Taste is banana, wheat, cloves..typical for this style, but a bit muted and bland. Semi-watery. Carbonation is high, body is light. Best thing about this is the ncie aroma.
