Creamy head upon pouring, settling down to a persistent thin head; almost dense. Cloudy marmalade orange with layers of cloudiness, forcing a change in colour between pale orange and the deeper orange. Nose has good depth of spice and aromastic coriander, ‘feels’ heavy. Well balanced palate, a lighter lighter or elegant than the nose would suggest but regardless shows all the right notes – spice, cloves, slightly liquored. Needs a touch more power on the finish but not a deal breaker. A great educational beer for those not familar with the genre.

Pours a slightly clouded orangey-gold with a frothy 2 finger cap and lots of effervescent activity in the glass. Starts with blast of tart lemon-peppery tang as the carbonation and tart hops assail the tongue and literally pummel it. Then it mellows to a medium-light body punctuated with malty sweetness and banana undertones...then a dry metallic finish...wadda beer! I like this one as a thirst buster on a warm day.

Pours a hazy yellow/orange with a small but lasting white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of yeast, wheat, citrus, banana, and light cloves. Taste is the same as aroma and slightly spicy. Medium creamy mouthfeel with a mild bitterness. Good for a hot Summer day. austone (1039), Turku; Pori, Finland
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Bottle as König Ludwig. Hazy golden, huge foamy head. Nose is wheat, little alcohol, yeast, not much banana. Cereal like. Flavor is very similar, cereal malts, (over) ripe banana, little alcohol. Almost medium bodied, a bit coarse carbonation. OK weisse, focusing on the dry maltiness. jredmond (1039), New Jersey, USA

One inch white head. Aroma is wheat and yeast. Flavor isn’t anything complex, however, its very refreshing, smooth with notes of wheat. obguthr (1030), Poquoson, Virginia, USA

Flavor a little more grainy then I thought it would be. Sweet at first with the lemon, yeast, and banana but finishes grainy along with some spices.
