Taste is wheaty with lemon/fruit and finishes smooth, but a bit fizzy. Overall I liked this beer very much and they seel it for $.99 a bottle so it is not a bad deal. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2003 Cloudy, golden color. Fair amount of carbonation. Very drinkable and refreshing. Cloves and subtle sweetness are in the flavor. Good to have on tap at the base of Lionshead in Vail if you're ever in the area. ROGUE (676), Newark, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2009 12oz bottle (Konig Ludwig Weissbier). Pours golden and cloudy with a thick head that is slow to settle. The nose is fruity malt and citrus. The taste is nice and pleasant, lemon, banana, and bread flavors that are mingled with the hops with a well balanced malt flavor. Very smooth. JesseM (674), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2008 On tap at the Castle as Konig Ludwig Weisse. Taps your typical awesome looking Hefe. Aroma is actually a little different. You’ve got your usual banana and a hint of clove, with wheat malt and yeast, but a sort of undertone of Earthiness makes itself known that is interesting to the nose. Flavour is more of the same (but not in the McCain kind of way). Very tasty Hefe, banana, toned down clove, yeasty goodness with less than excessive effervescence, but that weird sort of earthiness makes its presence known very quickly, but it by no means unwelcome. There is really very little to dock point on with this one. Really nice Hefe and I’m glad to have tried it considering I didn’t know it existed. My 400th rating! My 300th was Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen, so maybe this is a new tradition for me, Hefe’s as milestones. A nice treat from the now defunct Wittelsbach Bavarian Dynasty (marketing which appeals to me as the huge history geek I am). Haslinger (664), Syracuse, New York, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 13, 2006 Fairly average hefeweizen. Dusty banana aroma with a bit of creaminess. Better on tasting, with some nice bitterness, although it leaves an unfortunate rubbery aftertaste. Too much spritz in the mouth though, making it somewhat gassy. Probably the wrong time of year to be trying this - I’ll give it another run during summer if I remember. BierBauch (650), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA

I'm reviewing a bottle of Konig Ludwig Weiss which I'm told is the same brew as this one here.
Recently Erdinger has dissapeared from our local shelves due to some legal battle with the distributer. Almost as quickly, this beer has seemed to show up everywhere. It's being distributed in 6 packs of 11.2oz brown bottles. This is one of the cloudiest weizens I've had, deep golden and similar in color to the Schneider Weisse but not quite as dark. Produced a decent looking head which settled down to a thin film that lingered the entire session. The aroma is big on this one, clove and banana with banana being more up front. Mouthfeel is full and pleasant. Flavor is nice with a good wheat malt flavor that is spicy and a bit citrusy. Banana is noticable more as it warms. The flavor here is similar to the Ayinger with a bigger banana flavor. I'd say this is a good replacement to the Erdinger except it has a bigger flavor and is spicier, which I'd favor but some Erdinger fans may not care for.
