Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

Glowing golden yellow with a very fine haze. Thin white head. Spotty lace. Estery nose with notes of cloves bread, and sweetness. Sweet front. More complexity comes out in the middle--bananas, cloves, brown sugar, butterscotch. Light and fluffy mouthfeel. Only the slightest hint of hops in the finish. Mild, refreshing, and elegant.

Purchased as Konig Ludwig Weissbeir. Pours and orange/gold color with a thick white head. Some white yeast sediment is evident in the pour. Aroma includes banana, cloves and citrus. Taste has hints of citrus and banana. Palate has a nice fizziness and the finish includes reminders of the cloves and other spices. One of my favorite Weisbiers.

König Ludwig Weissebier. Beautiful wheat and clove aroma. Pours a cloudy straw colour with no head. Lots of yeast sediment. Taste is nice but not as godd as other weisses I've had. Taste of malt and some citrus with a bit of a sour finish.

Bottled. Hazy yellow. Fruity, estery nose. Medium bodied. Soft mouthfeel, low on Co2. Notes of clove and banana.

This bottle poured a beautiful crystal clear golden yellow color with a nice white medium head. The head lasted quite long leaving nice lacing on the edge of the glass. The aroma is primarily sweet honey and malt with notes of sour yeast, citrus, banana and spices. The texture is smooth and the flavor is bready with slight wheat beer sourness. The finish is crisp and dry.

(bottle 26Nov2008): Pours a cloudy yellow body. Creamish head, average sized head, lasting. Fresh bananay aroma, effervescentish. Banana taste, somewhat flowery. Fizzy.

Very yeasty aroma with a decent head. Some trace, very musty yellow colour. Good presentation for a hef, i’m not easily impressed with them in that regard. A nice finish too, great drink.

On tap under the Konig Ludwig Weiss label at Blind Pig in Champaign. Contrary to other ratings, I think this is a decent weiss beer. Pours hazy gold, typical. Very nice banana clove aroma. Taste has the right amount of sweetness, with hints of cloves, vanilla, yeast. I good session wheat beer. I was expecting worse.
