Commercial Description:
This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

Yeasty, citric aroma, with a hint of clove, and very flourish indeed. Thoroughly hazy pale golden straw yellow. Really fairly attractive, looks like it would be refreshing. Very fine carbonation. Flavor follows aroma very closely in character, with a decent amount of malt, contributing to a medium body overall. The finish has a bit more of the yeast banana/clove flavor, and also a hint of citrus acidity. Pretty good, kind of similar to a witbier in texture and mouthfeel.

Brewtopia 2004: Cloudy orange with a thin white head. Banana and clove aroma, light fizzy body, sweet ending and very crisp. I would like to try a fresh one of these.

Bottle. Konig Ludwig Weiss. Typical weiss aroma with notes of banana with a mild splash of clove. Transparent golden color with a decent small white head. Start is nice and sweet with bananas and cloves. Middle is nice and milky. Finishes with a twinge of carbonation. A nice, run of the mill Hefe that was only $5.50 for a 6er. I’d buy this again.

wonderful cloudy light golden appearance..only thing that keeps me from giving it full points is lack of head retention. aroma is of mild clove and other spices, but lacks the typical banana quality. the aromas there almost give it a smoky smell. flavor is mildly sweet with some spice. basically this beer goes downhill from the pour...but not to horrible depths or anything like that.

Hazy lemon gold colour with a shortlived head and moderate condition. Delicate banana and clove aromas, slightly tart in the mouth with a phenolic edge and a sweet banana and yeast finish.

Malty and citrus aroma. Hazy yellow / orange colour with a thick frothy white head. First taste was banana and light malt. finishes very lightly bitter. Easy to drink, but light on flavour.

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting II on 10/19/07: This brew is a hazy yellowish color with a medium and foamy white head that diminshes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, clove and fruit. Light-bodied with sweet grainy malt and honey flavors offset by mild spices and hops. The finish is yeasty with a light spice finish. Above average overall.

dmit I bumped my numbers up a bit as I am presuming that this was a tad old (clue: ON SALE). Wasn't the least bit bad at all, just somewhat lacking in certain factors. And I do think that weissbiers tend to be much better fresh. It was rather well appreciated though as I consumed directly outside the store on a beautiful day as I was getting impatient for the rest of my party to finish shopping.
