IlanMan (466), Winona, Minnesota, USA May 15, 2008 Pour is light golden with voluptuous white head. Aroma is of strong wheat, spice, and bread. Flavor is more floral with a wheat finish. Sweet finish and well blended. Might buy this sucker again. Good brew.
yalnikim (628), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 15, 2008 Tasted 09/07/2008. 500ml bottle from New World Thorndon. Hazy pale yellow gold, creamy white head that doesn’t linger a long time. Nice banana esters, a little clove and wheat - fresher than I expceted. Good in the mouth, filling the mouth with lively carbonation and malt and banana ester sweetness but still slender enough to be drinkable. Mild phenols and wheaty mealiness bring me back for more. Certainly felt like another one at the end. Very simple but I think this is very much along the lines of the Weissbier I’ve been looking for. Very nice for a beer that has come this far.
Ober (204), Best, Netherlands Jul 13, 2008 A hazy yellow/orange colored beer, with a big white foamy head. The aroma of yeast, malty sweetness and fruity citrus. The taste of malt, wheat and banana’s. It’s a fresh fruity enjoyable beer for warm days. Suttree (2265), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 13, 2008 Cloudy orangey gold, with a thin white head. Biscuity, mildly citrusy aroma. Smooth, soft palate. Crisp citrus flavors mix with a mild herbal note. Spicy finsh. Becomes slightly more fruity as it warms. jredmond (583), New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a beautifully hazy body - didn’t really expect it from this rags bottle. One inch white head. Aroma is wheat and yeast. Flavor isn’t anything complex, however, its very refreshing, smooth with notes of wheat. rampmaster (119), Alden, New York, USA Jul 10, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a weizen glass. The body was cloudy and had a cool, golden yellow color with visible carbonation. Its head is thick, creamy and bright white in color. It slowly fades to a thin cap that hangs on till the last sip and leaves nice lace on the glass. There is an inviting aroma of wheat, clove, fruity yeast and banana. The flavor has a good wheat malt base with fruity yeast that has notes of banana. Mellow herbal hops, spicy clove and a touch of lemon round out the flavor on a smooth creamy palate with a medium body and lively carbonation. It finishes somewhat dry with some lingering wheat and dry earthy tones. This is a great example of a German hefeweizen. The balance is spot on for the style and it is wonderfully refreshing and very easy to drink.
