Black, thin lingering tan head, good lacing. Aroma is very roasty, lots of chocolate, coffee, very malty, some smoke. Flavour is again quite roasty, chocolate malts, quite malty, coffee, smoke. Very roasty mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finished long, roasty, lots of chocolate.

Very nice. Lots of chocolate, very roasty. This brewery is now getting exciting.

Growler from the brewery.
Opened on March, 2009.

Aroma has a lot of coffee with dark chocolate notes, black, small cappuccino head. Flavour is coffee, loads of cocoa and a bit of chicory.Full bodied, very well balanced, beautiful mouthfeel, nicely bitter. Faboo!

Growler from the brewery. Black. Almost no head. Smells right: roast, coffee, and some dates. Lots of black coffee in the flavour, along with the roast and a little caramel sweetness for balance. Nice roast bitterness. Dryish, but also fuller than most dry stouts I’ve tried. An easy drinker. I’d like to try this one on tap.

Cask at Volo - under the name Publican House Stone Wall Stout - came looking pretty much like flat cola, no head at all, slightly transparent at the edges. Nice aroma of burnt coffee, chocolate, with enough sweetish malt and a touch of green hops to keep it all tied together nicely. Big flavour and quite full in the mouth for a lower abv. Bitter chocolate, espresso, raisin, and a faint hit of green apple and yeast. Very good. Quite a nice effort from this young brewery which is very quickly becoming one to watch in the province. Well done.

Cask at Volo. Pours waery black with somke bubbly head, it looks fine. Roasted abrley aroma. Its dry, malt is secondary, not the driest for sure. Medium mouthfeel. It was tapped early, but its fine, and has that unfiltered freh element to it.Good drnkability to it.
