ratman197 (3135), Arvada, Colorado, USA Sep 9, 2006 On tap @ Pumphouse poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate and vanilla with a lingering bittersweet finish. Braudog (3732), Dayton, Ohio, USA Apr 23, 2006 On tap at the brewpub, 4/13/06: Although there is little aroma on this midnight-brown brew, it was pretty strongly flavored. Very oaky, like a dry wine, but sweet and almost whiskey-ish. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Nov 27, 2004 Mostly black, but it’s brown around the edges. Thinnish, blotchy head, but really nice lace left behind. Chewy and soft; lively carbonation; lighter in body than expected, but not too light. Roasty, with a fruity-alcohol bubble. Hints of coffee and chocolate. Mild bitterness; some sourness. Nicely balanced; decently flavored. Went well with the brownie sundae.
