Malty and smooth, with a big of dark roasted maltiness, grains and some pretzel dough thrown in for texture. Finish is well balanced, some nice hoppiness and fruit to finish out the beer. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 13, 2006 Deep amber with nice ruby-redness; lasting, sticky lace. Lightish body; lively carbonation; clean and easy to drink. Rich malt flavors, such as toffee, cocoa, candied nuts and earthy peat. Pinch of citrusy sourness. Dryish finish with balancing bitterness (flowers, grass, earth). Decent session ale. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jun 3, 2006 Draught.
Head is mostly lasting.
Body is medium to dark amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
It has a nice appearance and mouthfeel, but the citric finish and resiny/doughy aromas are not pleasant for me. Those that like hop juice and aren’t bothered by vitamin B smell will surely enjoy it more.
