Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Apr 27, 2008 Warm golden color with slight haze. Heavily perfumed nose and soapy, flowery flavors to match. Entertaining at first then quickly becomes a bath bomb. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 16, 2008 Draught at the brewery. Chuck that orange wedge on the rim post-haste. Did you see that scare email that was going around about how lemon wedges in restaurants are covered in fecal bacteria? Anyway... The beer is cloudy, medium-hued orange-straw gold with a small, off-white, clingy, foamy/creamy, mostly, quickly diminishing, but lasting head.
The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain; Hoppy with moderate grassy herbal, floral notes; Yeasty wtih moderate/heavy notes of banana/clove; Miscellaneous notes of light/moderate orange zest, coriander.
The flavor is moderately/heavily sweet, lightly acidic, trace bitter with a long, lightly/moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. Residual spicy squeak on the palate, grainy retros seem dirty. Too sweet, lacking appropriate bitterness to bat clean up.
The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average.
Not bad, but okay to skip it. TAR (2088), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Aug 21, 2006 Draft: Cloudy peach. Thick, big-bubbled white foam. Sharp nose of cardamom, ginger, and yeast. Carbonation is hard and spritzy. Slippery body. Rounded notes of acidity are negated by a sweet and fruity orange-peel onslaught. Orange peels dominate the flavor by generating a dense marmalade sweetness. Prominent notes of alcohol and candy sugar do little more than muddle the underlying brightness. Finishes oversweet and redundant with yeast and a lingering blend of coriander and clove. Not a whole lot of imagination went into this, as it’s overly spicy and sweet. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Aug 14, 2006 Draught at 2006 Craft Lager Festival. Pours cloudy straw yellow with a medium foamy off-white head. Aroma is spicy herbs, flowers, ginger, vanilla, grassy earth, straw and hay malt, fragrant hops and corriander. Moderate acidity and bitterness, underlying sweetness, malt and yeast body, peppery notes. Light bodied and dry palate, refreshing. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jul 9, 2006 This is a wonderful summer beer. Lots of fruity phenolic aromas. Big hint of bananas right upfront. Flavor is slightly sugary sweet, lots of toasted malty creaminess. Clove and bubblegum spiciness, with some corriander citrus acidity to round out the palate. Very enjoyable ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 20, 2006 On tap @ Pumphouse poured a hazy copper with a small lasting off white head. Aromas of coriander, light orange and wheat. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of citrus, coriander and light wheat with a smooth sweet finish. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 11, 2005 2005 Boulder Strong Ale Fest.
Body is hazy light amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), with notes of ginger, banana, clove, coriander.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Lots of aromatic spices is nice, but the balance is a little off (slightly edgy/harsh), and the alcohol is surprisingly noticeable.
