On tap at the brewpub on 10/14/07: Pours a dark copper mahogany with a nicely-lacing light tan head. Aroma of good sweet peaty caramel and a touch of doughy yeast. Body starts with good sweet caramely maltiness, giving way to a great, authentic, rich peaty smoky finish. A nice Scotch ale.

On tap @ Pumphouse poured a cloudy reddish brown with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of peat smoke and toasted malt. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of peat smoke roasted malt and carmel with a smooth lingering smokey finish.

Great stuff overall and very true to style. A nice bit of mellow smokiness in the aroma, somewhat medicinal, perhaps a bit of peatiness or I may just be picking up some of the alcohol whiffs. Rich and sweet caramel malt body, smooth on the palate, with just a hint of dry, hoppy bitterness as it closes out.
