Max1972 (10), England Dec 8, 2006 I expected something different from this beer. It seems to fall uncomfortably between being a porter and a bitter. The appearance was good though, I just think it beer is a little confused.
fonefan (6078), Ulfborg, Denmark Oct 20, 2008 Cask (handpump) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.
Clear medium brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, nutty, coffee notes, wood. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (070808) MiP (6723), Flensburg, Germany Sep 8, 2008 Cask at GBBF08. Weak roasted aroma, dark malt. Clear dark brown colour. The flavour starts off with a mild malty roastedness, gets a little more rough at the end, probably due to rough hops. Still good, though. thewolf (4304), Kolding, Denmark Sep 6, 2008 Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours a very dark coppery brown with a great, small, creamy, white head. Aroma is powerfully malty, good caramel, some roasted malts and very nice earthy, flowery hops. Good, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lightly roasted, some chocolate and a pretty dry, chocolate and hoppy finish. Good porter. It is impressive how these low-alcohol beers maintain all the diversity of more powerful brews. leaparsons (4180), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 31, 2008 Cask, Peterborough Fest 08. Dark brown with a small head. Aromas are weetabix malts with berries. Quite earthy hops. Flavours are sweet and fruity with raisins and berries. Light roast malts with a dry, bitter finish. Skinnyviking (3023), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 17, 2008 Cask. Low white and quickly disappearing white head. Pitch black body. Distinct coffee aroma and flavor. Low carbonation and a long coffee aftertaste.
