Commercial Description:
Brewed by the original Wheat Beer Pioneers, Amber Weizen is left unfiltered for extra flavor and aroma. Rich amber in color, Pyramid Amber Weizen features three different kinds of caramel barley malts and nugget hops resulting in an exceptionally smooth and well-balanced beer that follows in the tradition of our flagship style, Pyramid Hefe Weizen.

Listed as Pyramid Amber Ale at the Ale House inside the Oakland Airport (on Tap). Not really appealing to drink. Pours a murky/muddy brown color with a small, off-white head. Aroma of wheat and amber/caramel malts. Taste is a nutty wheat beer with a bit of metal on the finish. Watery and fizzy.

Bottle. Pours a hazy red-caramel color with a large beige head that completely fades away rather fast. Aroma is of yeast, wheat, alcohol and is sort of sweet. Taste is similar, but malt is present. Not a bad beer as it is inexpensive, but it was pretty hard to pour. It would probably be better if I had a fresher batch or if it was on tap.

cloudy reddish pour, light aroma and the flavor seems like it cannot decide if it’s a wheat or an amber and just cannot meld the two.

Bottle. Sweet syrupy fruit nose (reminds of raspberry extract). Murky chestnut pour with some aggressive carbonation and little head. Taste has muddled caramel and wheat malt, kinda faded, with some lemony citrus which is enough to cut through. Lightly spicy. Light cardboard, light body, dry finish. Ugh, Pyramid is capable of much more than this

Pours a cloudy reddish murky brown a small white froth. Not much of an aroma, some caramel... Some alcohol and rich caramel in the flavor... maybe a touch of fresh green apple. Crisp soft sizzling carbonation and a medium/light body. eh..

Cloudy amber pour with a medium foamy white head. Aroma of yeast and grain, with a bit of light roasted caramel malt. Lots of the malt comes through in the slightly sweet flavor. Light bodied with some graininess. Very refreshing.

Pours cloudy amber with a small white head. Few lacings. Aroma is floral hops. Taste mild citrus hops with plenty of sweet malts. Some breadiness. This bottle had a use by date about one week from today. Probably better if fresh. Sweetness dominates the palate.

Out of the bottle in Denver, CO. A hazzy pour, smells of appricot. Nothing special, but a very refreshing beer. This would be good for hot summer days, sitting on the patio.
