Commercial Description:
Brewed by the original Wheat Beer Pioneers, Amber Weizen is left unfiltered for extra flavor and aroma. Rich amber in color, Pyramid Amber Weizen features three different kinds of caramel barley malts and nugget hops resulting in an exceptionally smooth and well-balanced beer that follows in the tradition of our flagship style, Pyramid Hefe Weizen.

I’m always a fan of wheat beers. This one is good, but nothing special. I do like the hybrid amber/wheat for the extra carmel malt.

Pours copper orange, no foam. The palate is a little watery, but all the carbonation comes out in the mouth. Wierd. The flavor is sweet, slightly caramel, and carbonated. There is no lacing on the glass, interestingly enough.

Tasted at Pyramid’s Berkeley, Ca brewery as part of a taster set of 6 beers, and this one was among the best. Cloudy, amber, very light head. Vanilla scent, sweet, banana flavor. First of the glasses to empty among a group. Much better than their Hefeweizen.

Sampled at the brewpub on October 18, 2007. Pours a thin, white dissipated head with an amber body. Nose and flavour of butter and wet wheat. Like a breakfast cereal with melted margarine on top. Yikes!

Aroma is sweet and yeasty wheat. Hazy amber/brown hue and fully diminishing head. Flavor is sweet and yeasty with crystal and malt. Palate is watery. Ick

Pours a reddish brown color with almost no head. Disappointing. A very uneventful and boring beer.

Muddy red brown with no head. Almost no aroma. Flavor is initially wheaty with a caramel malt amber ale finish. The flavors are pretty subdued. Not alot going on in this one.
