Commercial Description:
Brewed by the original Wheat Beer Pioneers, Amber Weizen is left unfiltered for extra flavor and aroma. Rich amber in color, Pyramid Amber Weizen features three different kinds of caramel barley malts and nugget hops resulting in an exceptionally smooth and well-balanced beer that follows in the tradition of our flagship style, Pyramid Hefe Weizen.

On draft at brewpub. Amber with medium head. Light roasted malt aroma. Taste is....hints of sweet malt, but not much substance to this. Watered down.

From a stubby twist-off 12 oz. bottle, short blurb and freshness date on the neck label, sampled in a shaker glass. A hazy amber appearance, small foamy off-white head, settled into a thin lacing, very light amount of sticking. Aromas of toasted caramel and malted wheat, caramelized sugar, a subtle fruitiness, hints of herbal hops. I really had to breath in deeply to find the nugget hops. Smooth light-medium bodied mouthfeel, mildly crisp and dry, tastes of toasted caramel, after the initial taste everything turns a bit watery, watery fruitiness, watery sugariness, watery herbalness, watery finish, just disappointing overall. The nose had a little promise that the taste can’t deliver on, Pyramid is a hit or miss brewery with me, and this is a big miss.

Pours a deep, cloudy brown with orange highlights and a medium-sized white head. The aroma is light but contains malted wheat and some sweetness. The flavor is sweet with wheat malts and also has some fruit and hints of cloves. There are also very pleasant - though subtle - touches of caramel and dark crystal malts that also account for the beer’s color. The mouthfeel is creamy and full-bodied. Overall, not bad - about middle of the road for the flavors available at the Pyramid Alehouse in Seattle.

Amber colored pour with medium sized head. A sweet caramely aroma with a sweet citrus finish. Pretty good.

This beer pours a cloudy amber with a medium white head. Realy this is about what you’d expect from an american dunkel weizen. Although it could have used a little more. Actually a LOT more. While this is not a bad beer, there are so many other american’s that can beat this. Cheers!

Pyramid Amber Weizen 12 oz bottle Moderate pour in a shaker Recent brewing(?), enjoyed 07/07 Poured a murky brown with an average frothy somewhat lasting head. Smelt of light to moderate toasted wheat. Taste was upfront moderate sweet caramel and light bitter toasted malt followed by a light bitter yeasty and toasted malt on a short finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, slightly oily on a dry finish, lively carbonated and lightly astringent. Overall, a light mellow dark weizen that seems slightly bland and falls a bit short.

On tap at Portland’s Pyramid Poured a cloudy rosy hue with a small soapy head. Interesting finish of mild fruit and crisp wheat. Kind of boring overall, but quite quaffable.

Pours a light cloudy reddish orange color with a medium white head. There is a swirl of the fine yeast particles visible. Smell is subtle at first and different than any beer I’ve smelld before. There is some sweetness to the smell and the rest is hard to pinpoint. Perhaps its from the wheat. Not a traditional hop or malt smell... Taste is fairly smooth, and creamy for the style I think. It’s very lightly hopped. Not any noteworthy bitterness but it has something different in the taste too. Maybe its just the wheat, but I don’t know. Not my favorite, but not undrinkable. I actually thought this was an amber until seeing the description on this page.
