Commercial Description:
Brewed by the original Wheat Beer Pioneers, Amber Weizen is left unfiltered for extra flavor and aroma. Rich amber in color, Pyramid Amber Weizen features three different kinds of caramel barley malts and nugget hops resulting in an exceptionally smooth and well-balanced beer that follows in the tradition of our flagship style, Pyramid Hefe Weizen.

I remember this beer from ten years ago...they brought it back recently but something is not the same. That one was light, a little spicy but decent. This...hazy amber colour yes. Light aroma with just a hint of toast. Slightly creamy body. But really kind of bland. Maybe my tastes have changed, maybe they’ve dumbed it down. I really can’t say, but this was better when it first came out ages ago.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Bottle labled best before 09-16-05. Poured a medium orange color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of light wheat and some caramel. Tastes of grain and some citrus.

on tap-pours a thin white head and cloudy/murky brownish yellow color. Aroma is medium wheat, mild medium fruit. Taste is creamy medium malt-caramel, medium wheat, mild medium fruit, hint of flat/earthy hops. Medium body. OK effervescence.

It did hit the spot after sweating out in the sun for a while. else I probably would’ve rated it lower. Nice look, a hazy amber body with a three-fingered off-white head. The aroma is subtly fruity with wheat, honey, a light malt, and yeast. The flavor, however, is just wheat, grain, a trace of cherries, and a faint citric tang. Good for the hot weather, I suppose.

Heavily hazed copper liquid with a moderate beige head. Caramelized wheat aromas, with some stomach acid making the mouth water (for the wrong reasons). Simple watery toasted malt and wheat flavors. This is taking the best of an american wheat and amber and making sure there is nothing interesting at all in the glass. I will be happy with cenosillieaphobia when this one is gone. Bland and lifeless is the best this offers.

Bottle: Amber color, fair head and spotty lacing. Nose of light toffee and wheat, lightly malty with a touch of hops. This is definately a FILTERED wheat beer, not unfiltered. The flavor is fairly watered down with wheat and a bit of crispy caramel. Fairly boring.

Bottle. Hazy dark amber with a moderate white head that diminished quickly. Moderate balanced sweet hoppy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Average balanced sweet malt flavor with a small bitter finish of average duration.
