Light spice and a bit strong, the alcohol is slightly evident. Overall, it seems seasonal with a spicyness but not as hearty as a winter warming ale. Might be too strong but for a cold night. Body is medium is good carbonation and nice tingly mouthfeel. Seems almost like a seasonal beer as its slightly spicy. I'm guessing its the flavoring spicy hops which is a nice addition to balance out the malt character of the beer. Good crisp but still sweet finish.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2003 Pours a dark copper with small head. Butterscotch and some alcohol in the nose, a little malt peeking out there too. Kind of a buttery flavor with some hints of sweet spice and malt. Don't really notice the hop finish that the description states though. Not too bad. hopscotch (5504), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 12, 2003 Crystal clear, copper-colored ale. Small, creamy, off-white head.
Malty nose with notes of broth, alcohol and butterscotch. A touch floral as well.
Good, malty flavor with blasts of toffee and cinnamon butter. Almost balanced out by the hops, but not quite.
Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation.
Short, astringent, malty finish.

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 9, 2003 Strange name, so I had to try it. Came in a 12oz bottle. Pours a light amber color with very little head and no lacing on the glass. The aroma is grassy, grainy - mostly earthy scents. The flavor is much the same as the aroma. Very earthy with grains being the most prominent taste. There was something weird about the taste/mouthfeel that I really didn't like. I almost want to say it was sour, but that's not a good description - don't know how to classify it, but I didn't like it much. The drinkability is just alright.

Flavor is full of sharp carbonation, sweet/sour hard candy, herbal throat lozenges and werther's toffee. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA

I like Ambers. I've bought and tried three Pyramid Products. Of the three this is the best. Would I recommend it? You bet!!! Hint of caramel and bitter flavor. Very nice. vw86ggti (14), Puyallup, Washington, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Sep 26, 2003 This stuff just came into my local grocery store for the fall season and I decided to pick up a six pack of it.
I must say it is different. Has a very potent smell as you open the bottle, kind of "herbish" and "woody" smell. The smell will probably be a love/hate thing. I happen to like it. Smell's very "fall like". It is a very dark amber and doesn't really keep a thick head when poured in the glass, but then again, it isn't a stout or a porter either.
First taste is a bit different. It has a slightly herbal tinge with a nutty aftertaste. The alcohol content is a little high for a beer (6.4%) so it will be a bit warm going down. This is typical of Pyramid's seasonal brews. I believe their winter brew is 7.0%. All in all, it is definetly worth trying, if you can get a hold of any.
