garrison (433), Cin. city, Ohio, USA Sep 25, 2007 From a twelve ounce bottle purchased aT "kELLER’S IGA" in Cincinnati, Ohio - This one pours a ruddy amber liquid with a sweet, malty taste, and a tall, just off-white head. Tastewiose, it’s good, but could use a bit more body.
heemer77 (3771), Savannah, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper body with a light yellowish khaki head. The aroma was earthy with some caramel and raw soy beans. The taste was dusty toffee with some sweetened iced tea. There was also a light hint of mandarin oranes in the finish. Drinkable. ditmier (222), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 5, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours amber with a decent off white head...I think this is a fun American marzen style ale, aroma is sweet malt, a little fruity, flavour follows...caramel, balanced bitters, good alcohol...a fun fall warmer... fidel (204), Livermore, California, USA Oct 1, 2008 Medium amber, sweet, strong, malty, caramel, hoppy, bready, little fruity. chokmah33 (105), Bremerton, Washington, USA Oct 1, 2008 Smell is carmelly sweet, hint of pine and yeast. Some fruits (apple) and mild cracker malt.
Flavor has bigger malt and hop content than alot of boring ambers. Starts slightly carmel, herbal hop mid and finsh is cracker malt.
Thicker body than I expected, crisp slightly astringent mouth.
Good with Gruyere as a contrast. Cornfield (4331), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 30, 2008 From the bottle this pours a dark, clear amber body with an off-white head that leaves the scene quickly. Nice malty aroma, caramel with orchard fruit. The fruit disappears from the flavor to be replaced by a light herbal bitterness. Mostly harmless.
