Commercial Description:
An American style light bodied wheat ale that is refreshingly flavorful. Crystal wheat ale was inspired by Pyramid’s first beer in 1984 the wheaten ale, which was the first year round wheat beer brewed in America since prohibition

Bottle from John’s Market in Portland, OR. Brassy gold color with a slight white head. Aroma of wheat. Hop? Doubtful. Surprising fruit - like apricot. Body is near medium; carbonation is coarse. Finish is light fruit, but some bitter lurks beneath. Refreshing and enjoyable.

Aroma is a little different, it has hints of what my mom used to use for a hair permanent. Ubiquitous pale yellow american beer appearance. Slight slaggy taste. Has a coarse obtuse wet hay palate. A little hairy and bitter on the finish. I knew this really wasn’t a crystal weizen as stated on the label, but overall it’s not bad. Perhaps a little too much bitter personality for me.

Bottle. Pours a gold color with a full off-white head. Has an aroma of wheat grain, malt and lightly citrus. Taste is thin, fairly forgetable, but not terrible. This beer lacks character and is not bold in any way. But don’t get me wrong--I’d grab one of these long before I would a Bud or a Coors!

Poured a clear gold color with a one finger white head. Aroma was a very faint wheat smell. Flavor was crisp and clean, but somewhat bland. This makes for a good summer day beer. Not heavy, but refreshing.

clear darkish yellow with a slight wheat nose and taste. Okay palate. Like many pyramids it lacks a strong nose, taste or follow through.

watered down.

Bottle from Ray’s Food Place in Rogue River, OR. Poured a yellow color and had a sweet malty smell. Tastes of banana and other summer fruits. It went down very clean and smooth on a warm summer day.

Pours a slightly hazy dull yellow with a brief layer of white foam. Nearly no aroma - very faint wheat malt & banana. Tastes very very watery. Minimal carbonation, thin body, not creamy. Drinkable but very watered-down.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is raisin and wheat. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet malt with raisin and banana. Not too much going on with this wheat ale from Pyramid.
