Commercial Description:
An American style light bodied wheat ale that is refreshingly flavorful. Crystal wheat ale was inspired by Pyramid’s first beer in 1984 the wheaten ale, which was the first year round wheat beer brewed in America since prohibition

12oz bottle pours light wheat yellow in color with a white head, slight chill haze. Nose of musty wheat and grains and a lighter note of moldy, old honey. Flavor is sticky honey sweet malts, light wheat, light dried fruit... not too complex but pleasent enough. Basic semi-sweet honey malt flavor, little to no bitterness. Simple but not bad. Texture is medium to full bodied for the style, somewhat resinous and oily and moderately thick.

Bottle... Not much going for this beer. Poured pale straw with a tiny white head that diminished right away. Aroma of cereal grains and malt. Way too much carbonation that made want to either spit it out or swallow it immediately. Mostly sweet malt flavors and hint of tart wheat characters.

Suprising wheaty malt body that - lots of sour yeast products with a heavy dose of banana and light spice. Somewhat floral with a very dry finish that was punctuated with a soapy residue. For a hot summer day: Take it or leave it - I think I’ll leave it.

Bottle labeled Crystal Wheat Ale, and tagged an American Wheat Ale. Touch of wheat and clove in the aroma, but not much there. Pours a clear light amber with about half an inch of white head. The flavor is more hops then wheat. Bitter notes, touch of pith, and the barest hint of wheat. Very light mouthfeel. Not bad, but not the first thing I’d reach for.

Taster - Washington Brewers Festival - Kenmore, WA
Aroma – Huge wheat aroma. Banana and grapefruit lingering.
Appearance – Golden in color, Big haze with a thin head.
Flavor – Deep hazy wheat beer with a deep fruit flavor of grapefruit and banana crisp flavors.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, nice texture with a dry wheat finish.
Overall – A very nice wheat ale that would be perfect for the hot summer days. This did have too much sediment. Can lead to headaches.

Bottle: Pale golden color with a short lived white head. Dusty, grassey, and light malty aroma. Taste is dusty with light bits of wheat and even a little bit of florls. A little soapy in the tail.

Bottle: Pours a hazy copper color with light white head. The nose is lightly malty with some light wheat and husk; vague malt comes across as citrus. Yeasty flavor and a thin body. Lacking in pretty much every category that a hefeweizen excels in.

Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a small, thinning, white head. Smell: Altogether mild aroma of wheat, light citrus, and an even lighter yeastiness. Taste: Weak wheat malt taste with a medium sweetness. Hint of citrus fruit. Slight yeastiness. Faintly floral hoppiness with tiny amount of bitterness. Clean, drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation, though a bit prickly. Drinkability: We got a real snoozer on our hands here, but I guess it could be worse.
