Commercial Description:
An American style light bodied wheat ale that is refreshingly flavorful. Crystal wheat ale was inspired by Pyramid’s first beer in 1984 the wheaten ale, which was the first year round wheat beer brewed in America since prohibition

clear yellow gold, two finger head of fluffy white small bubbles. strong yet soft dry baked wheat aroma. soft, light, and dusty on the palate with a little peak of bitterness if only for a second. balanced nicely, the initial sweetness never gets out of control, though the style isn’t my thing.

Bottle... Not much going for this beer. Poured pale straw with a tiny white head that diminished right away. Aroma of cereal grains and malt. Way too much carbonation that made want to either spit it out or swallow it immediately. Mostly sweet malt flavors and hint of tart wheat characters.

11.17.08 Bottle. Pours clear yellow, thin white head. Aroma is faint malt and fruit. Flavor is malty, fruity, slighty hoppy, bubbly, or maybe I just notice the bubbles given the flavor. It’s on the girly side. Not awful. Pretty watery and light, but maybe this would be good for someone who likes diet-light flavored beers.

12oz bottle of Crystal Wheat Ale. Purely clear dark golden with nice head and good retention. Light, sweet malt aroma with a touch of spicy hops. Crisp wheat and light sweetness in the taste. Spicy hops and moderately bitter finish is more than I expected. I expected zilch from this. But, I’m pleasantly surprised. I’d gladly drink this when looking for a light session beer any time. Very refreshing, yet taste is still there. Great baseball beer.

on tap at SafeCo, Seattle.
clear darkish yellow with a slight wheat nose and taste. Okay palate. Like many pyramids it lacks a strong nose, taste or follow through.

watered down.

Pours a nearly-clear gold with a finger of frothy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin cap with some patchy lace left in its wake. The nose is of dusty wheat and a solid, doughy yeast note backed by lighter notes of honey and bubble gum. Light-bodied. without being thin. it possesses a slick mouthfeel which transitions to a mildly sour finish. A departure from the nose, the flavor shares the same dusty wheat character but lacks the sweeter notes that make the nose somewhat pleasant. Light and slightly fruity, it’s a decent wheat, but short of someone handing a bottle to me on a hot summer day, I can’t see myself drinking this again.

2008 Bottle - Pours yellow with a small white head, malty aroma, yeasty, citrusy - flavour is almost a cross between a sour and a hef, biscuity citrus, finishes clean and lemony, good summer brew....

purchased at safeway in bremerton (east), as a crystal wheat ale. pours a clear yellow with a thin white head and bubbles. smell of wheat, lemon, some spice. taste has lots of carbonation, tart, wheat, lemon, spice, slight bitter, ends with some pepper and slightly dry and sour.
