Faint banana liqueur and some vegetable bouquet. Banana flavour that seems artificial like a 7-11 slurpee syrup. Thin body. Curveball? All the banana notes was a curveball for a blonde ale.

On tap at the Yard House, Waikiki. Pale yellow with a thin white head. Some bread and orange notes in the nose. Flavor was pretty crappy - biscuity with a tinge of citrus, but seemed way off.

Bottled. Poured clear brighter golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up soft bready malts that supported grassy and lemony notes.. smelled like it was going to be refreshing. The flavor found pale malts and lesser bready notes with orange zest and toasted grainy character.. short finish, but it was indeed refreshing. Light-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. tangy and well-balanced. I’d have another.

Sampled at the summer beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 5/29/09. Semi-cloudy gold pour with a medium white head. Malty aroma with some yeast and hops. Creamy malt flavor with yeast and a bit of hop in the finish.

I bought a six-pack of Curve Ball with the new label. It says that it is a "Blonde Ale". I don’t know if they changed the recipe, and it is no longer a Kölsch. I think it tastes similar to my previous experience with it. It has a golden orange color with minimal foam. The aroma is fruit and wheat. I find the flavor nice and refreshing but not very complex.

Draught. Pours clear gold with an average, fizzy, white head, somewhat diminishing with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cereal, husky grain, straw), light hop (grass), average yeast (sweat) with notes of butter and dust. Light bodied, lively carbonation, gritty texture, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness; refreshing, clean, and crisp beer.

Bottle. Pours a yellow color with a small white head. Aroma is malts, hops, some fruit smell. Flavor is a light citrus, with malts, floral flavors, mild notes of fruit. Overall it is "okay" but it’s not great. I probably wouldn’t get it again for myself, but some friends who have less beer knowledge would probably find this to be a hit.
