Nena (120), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 9, 2009 Updated: Sep 22, 2009A light copper beer with a white head. My roommate ordered the non-nitrogenated version of this, which I tried a taste of, and it struck me that this beer does not benefit from the nitrogen. There is added smoothness, but I found it flattened the flavors a lot and killed whatever pizazz the original had. Creamy and easy to drink, but the flavor is rather watery, a little sweet, and only very slightly hoppy. Was definitely too low in hops for a pale ale. BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 13, 2009 On tap Pyramid Seattle location Poues out a amber topped with a small white head. Aroma of malts and toast. Tast was ligth sweetness maybe caramel the toasted malts and a light floral hop. NO PDA for this brew. JPDIPSO (4864), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jun 12, 2009 Draft at the Safeco Field brewpub. Dark amber color with a moderate, slightly creamy head. Bit of malt and light caramel nose. Simple flavors with a some caramel, lightly toasted malt and a bit of green floral hops. A simple ale to go this the typical bar food. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jan 14, 2009 On tap at the PDX Green Dragon. Pours golden orange with a small white head. Pretty malty throughout, bready and soft caramel. Palate was a bit watery and finished bland. Overall just not enough hops to stand up against the pale ales in the area. killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Jan 4, 2009 On tap from Pyramid, obviously. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the nitro flattens out what could otherwise be a promising pale ale. Oscbert (531), Sacramento, California, USA Nov 30, 2008 ~Pours a light copper with thick creamy white head.
~Mild malt and hop scent.
~Taste is dulled out by creamy nitrogen pour. Light malts and hops again with taste.
~Creamy feel, quick finish.
~The bartender said that this is a nitro version of Mactarnahan’s Amber Ale.
Although it does look good, I think they ruined a really good brew by using nitrogen on this one. Doesn’t mix well. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA May 25, 2008 12oz Pint - Pyramid Brewery - Seattle, WA
Aroma – Very nice malt and hops aroma.
Appearance – Amber in color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor – Nice easy drinking amber ale with hops and good malts.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, great texture with a good dry finish.
Overall – A very nice easy drinking beer. Has some great flavors. I liked this beer.
Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2008 1/2 pint on nitro at Barclay’s in Oakland. Solid cream top over an amber-colored, clear brew. Nutty buddy! Milky caramel. Doesn’t lend itself well to the nitro delivery, IMHO. (#3416, 4/12/2008)
