Commercial Description:
Pyramid Draught Pale Ale - Nitrogenated version of our Gold Medal Winning MacTarnahan’s Amber Ale.

As the draft version of Pyramid Pale Ale , our DPA is served in the Irish style with a blend of nitrogen and carbon dioxide - giving it a uniquely smooth flavor reminiscent of Britain’s famous hand-pulled cask ales.

Beautiful nitro pour, of course, leaving tight creamy head in wake--below is crystal clear coppper ale--quite beautiful in the glass. Aroma has fruit tones with light hoppiness & subtle malt undertones. The flavor is less assertive but more subtle and smooth than the regular version of their pale ale. Good balance between malts and the light but well-bittered hops. Finish is medium-dry and very smooth. Body is good for a pale and the balance is helped by the nitrogenation. Some will find this brew too "restrained"--and quite apart from the unusual nitro treatment for a pale, is very much in the English style. I like its subtlety and balance.

On tap at MacTarnahan’s tap room--Poured a cascading creamy tawny-golden nitro body with a fluffy ice cream head. Mouth feel was rich and desert-like. Light and very quaffable. Nose of spicy and floral hops. Slightly metallic but not so much that it hindered the overall impression of this brew. Clean and pleasant silken finish.

Tap. Amber with a thick frothy white head. Hop and a little fruit in the aroma with a noticeable alcohol tinge. Creamy smooth and malty.

on tap at brewery in berkley: orange brown color with tight creamy head. slightly bitter. not alot of complexity here. however, i liked it more then others. something a little different, i guess nobody liked it because at one time you could find it everywhere on the west coast now its gone!!

It was interested to have the taste of a head familiar to the likes of guinness drought on this pale ale. There was no distinctive taste otherwise. Can't say it was very impressive.

Served warmer, less carbonation. Slightly more balanced that the regular Pale Ale. Much better with Nitrogen.

Well I didn’t know that one would use nitrogen in a pale ale. Nice creamy head but the undercarbonated taste doesn’t suit well for a Pale Ale.
