travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA Mar 15, 2008 Cloudy goldish orange look. Smell is wheat but has slight roasty smell. No bright fruit aroma present. Taste is too bland.
slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 12, 2008 Draught. Mildly acidic nose, not much there. Cloudy orange-red withi a thin and patchy head. Clove and banana flavor, proper for style but unimpressive. Some bite in the palate. idbowman82 (62), Painesville, Ohio, USA Mar 11, 2008 A bit disappointing, really.
It’s not BAD, by any stretch, but one comes to expect certain things from a good haffy, and this really doesn’t deliver them. The characteristic bready, banana/apple pie notes that typically accompany a HW are totally absent.
It pours very cloudy coppery-orange, and has the aroma of straw, wheat, and citrus. The flavor is rather bland with little more than wheat and vague citrus, with a straw/corn aftertaste.
It finishes rather clean, though that’s owing mostly to the heavy handed carbonation.
In many ways, this reminds me of a pilsner, stipped of any redeeming qualities and replaced with the thick and bready taste of wheat.
ditmier (1019), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 9, 2008 2007 Bottle - This is just a no nonsense, easy drinkin NW hef. Yeasty and cloudy in all of it’s unfiltered glory, I just really like this beer. Don’t look for any groundbreaking characteristices here, it’s just an approachable and enjoyable wheat. zombywoof (355), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Mar 7, 2008 Coppery hazey color and quick dissapating head. Aroma of orange, straw and wheat. Flavor of lemon, wheat and a little undercurrent of caramel. Seems thin and spritzy. Nothing like a real Hefe. jt3375 (6), Lansing, Michigan, USA does not count Mar 2, 2008 Not a real flavorful wheat beer. It is smooth and easy to drink, but does not have the distinct bavarian flavor that comparable microbrews offer. kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA Feb 29, 2008 Thick copper color with small head. Wheat aroma. Flavor is wheat/grainy, with some hints of banana. Body is lighter, with a clean simple finish. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Feb 27, 2008 Hazy light yellow with slightly frothy head. Aroma is banana and some wheat. Semi-sweet and cloying with a wheat presence throughout. Simple band effective.
