Commercial Description:
The standard by which all other wheat beers are judged. Our deliciously deranged American-Style Hefeweizen is an award winning take on this Bavarian classic. This refreshingly unfiltered wheat ale delivers a distinctively smooth flavor worth sharing with friends.

Tasted at Pyramid’s Berkeley from draught. Looked and smelled wonderful. Creamy golden, scent of tangerines. Tasted awful, though, like the wet leather of of a baseball mitt after a couple of hours of playing on a hot August afternoon. Just a touch of esters, nothing I would ever drink again.

On tap at the SoDo brewery. Pours cloudy gold with a lacy white head. Unfortunately, the barman saw fit to park a lemon slice on the rim, which pretty much destroyed my ability to rate it as a beer. Why do they do this? Are they so ashamed of the product that they don’t want anyone to find out what the unadulterated taste is? It’s an OK wheat flavored lemonade.

A kind of one dimensional hefeweizen. It has the traditional characteristics of hefeweizen but none of them really come out to shine like in some of the German ones. I don’t mean to rag on it, I’ll have a glass when I’m out at a bar, but I’d probably never seek it out.

I like a good refreshing hefe. And I agree with the others refections on it’s aroma, color, and mouthfeel....It’s nothing special, but then again it didn’t piss me off like it did some others... When you’re bargain shopping half-drunk just before the liquor stores closes on a saturday night, you get what you pay for...$5.99/sixer...(a deal)

Pours out a hazy orange-yellow with little to no head. This smells strangely like Budweiser. In fact alot like it. Moving on to the taste, wow, this is awful. This tastes like a normal Budweiser, the only difference is that this is darker and cloudy. Where is the spice? Where is the yeast? Where is the classic banana-like flavors of a decent weizen? What bullshit is this? Pissed I bought a six pack.

A deep yellow couldy hefeweizen with a small head. Medium body. Citris and pure wheat aroma. Medium-strong flavor of lighter wheat malts, and clean yeast, and pure water. The beer has great mouthfeel and taste. Just the right amount of bite. Abundant, tight lacing. Finish is refreshing and clean. One of the better hefeweizens.

This is nice & drinkable, but fairly mediocre & I tend to agree with the classification that this is not really like a true hefeweizen. It is gold, cloudy, with a thin, lasting white head and weak lacing. The aroma is raspberries - sweet and fruity. The taste seems dry at first, but soon becomes more noticeably sweet. There is no bitterness. It is somewhat fruity over a wheat base, sowewhat thin and tingly palate, and a definite marshmallow aftertaste. Approachable and smooth, it is pleasing and tasty but not great.
